Dr Pierce will be leaving Lambeth Street Surgery at the end of December after nearly 5 years at the practice. He will be replaced by Dr Tom Accialini.
We are planning a Christmas party for Thursday 22nd December 12.30-2.00 when you will be able to say good-bye to Dr Pierce and meet Dr Accialini, if you haven’t already done so.
Dr Pierce writes:
Dear Patients
It is with sadness that I write to let you know that I will be leaving Lambeth Street Surgery at the end of December. I have enjoyed my time serving the community in Audley and beyond, and have been privileged to get to know many of you well over nearly 5 years. I have learnt much from you all and feel richer for having shared in your lives even to a small extent. I shall miss you, and my fantastic colleagues at the surgery. However I’m delighted that Dr Tom Accialini will be taking over from me: he is an excellent doctor and will already be known to many of you as he has covered Friday mornings at the surgery until recently. He and Dr Eva Mitchell will continue to develop the good quality of care the surgery is known for.
The background to my departure is that for a few years I have been exploring a sense of calling or vocation to be ordained (a position of leadership in the church – often called minister, vicar, priest or pastor) – I have a very strong sense of God’s leading in this and am excited about what may lie ahead on this path. I have recently been selected to train within the Church of England, which is encouraging new ways of ‘being church’ that seek to connect better with contemporary culture than much of what people tend to see or imagine ‘church’ to be. My desire is to see the message of hope found through Jesus Christ being accessible to all people, whether spiritually inclined or not, and from all backgrounds, that enhances life and gives it a meaning and purpose that resonates with individuals and communities at the core of who they are. Not a small ambition!
I shall therefore be moving to Nottingham with my family to start my training, back to where I originally trained as a doctor! I hope in the longer term that I may be able to continue some GP work, but for a while I will be putting medicine aside.
I do hope that during my time amongst you, through kindness and compassion, I have been able to reveal something of the love that God the Father has for each of you. I have experienced that love which is most completely known in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus and which is revealed by the Holy Spirit who comes to live in those who love Him. I hope the wonder and beauty of God’s love and the new life He gives will be known to you all.
With Best Wishes
